The
purpose of the public outreach program during construction
of the Expo Line project is to minimize construction impacts
by working closely with stakeholders along the light rail
alignment to ensure that their issues and concerns are addressed. Keeping
the public, elected officials, major stakeholders and the media
apprised of the construction schedule and progress is a key component of our outreach effort.
Government / Community Relations Staff
The Government/Community Relations staff
is committed to addressing the needs of the community. They
are the link between stakeholders, contractors, engineers and
elected officials as it relates to the Expo Line project and
are committed to providing proactive solutions to address construction-related
issues and concerns.

During business hours, Expo staff is
available to respond to inquiries via phone and email. For
situations that arise after hours, Expo has established a
24-hour hotline where emergencies/complaints can be called
in immediately. An on-call community relations representative
monitors the hotline at all times, which allows the caller
to receive personalized attention and have emergencies addressed
immediately.

Project Updates
It is the goal of Expo’s Government/Community
Relations team to establish positive relations within the
impacted communities in an effort to be a good neighbor. Government/Community
Relations staff meets regularly with stakeholders to provide
updates on design progress and construction activities. Dates and locations of upcoming meetings will be posted on our website.
EXPO Phase 2
On February 4, 2010, the Exposition Construction Authority Board of Directors certified the Expo Phase 2 FEIR under the California Environmental Quality Act. The FEIR represents the final environmental document regarding Expo Phase 2. As a result of the Board's approval, engineering and design work will commence and elements of construction may begin in late 2010.
