The Urban Design Committee, appointed by the Exposition Construction
Authority Board, has been meeting on a regular basis to provide input into
the urban design elements of the Exposition Line project. The committee achieved consensus on design elements,
and presented them to the community in a series of meetings that
took place in November 2006. Upon receiving positive feedback
from the Urban Design Committee and the community, the Expo Board
approved the conceptual design elements above for the Exposition
Line project at their board meeting in December 2006.

KATHY KING
Ms. King is a Project Manager for Psomas of Los Angeles. At Psomas she prepares land use entitlements and presents proposals and applications to the City of Los Angeles and other local jurisdictions within the County of Los Angeles. Ms. King has been a member of the American Planning Association, Chicago Design Consortium, Habitat for Humanity, Southern California Planning Congress, Urban Land Institute, West Area Planning Council and Women in Planning + Development.
ALAN LEVINE
Mr. Levine served as a Board Member for the Westside Neighborhood Council (2002–2006), Westwood Gardens Civic Association (1999-2006), and earlier as Vice Chairman of LA Magnet School Association, and as LA Chairperson of American Field Service and Vice President American Camp Association of Southern California. Mr. Levine was the owner/director of Camp Funtime Children’s Day Camp of Encino for 17 years after a lengthy career in Advertising and Public Relations.
BING CHERRIE
Mr. Cherrie was the former Associate Vice President of Planning for the University of Southern California and serves on the executive committee of the Central City Association, is a director of the Downtown Center Business Improvement District, and a director of the South Park Stakeholders Group and South Park Business Improvement District. His is vice chairman of the Figueroa Corridor Partnership Business Improvement District. He serves as a UCS staff liaison to the Exposition Park Stakeholders Group, the California Science Center, and the Coliseum Commission.
PHILIP HART
Philip Hart is Managing Director of Member Diversity Initiatives for the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Prior to this Hart was Executive Director of ULI Los Angeles. Hart has served as a construction manager for the Los Angeles Unified School District's (LAUSD) $20 billion new school construction and modernization program. He served as project manager for the 5,000-seat, $65 million West Angeles Cathedral in South Los Angeles and is Senior Advisor for the West Angeles Campus and West Angeles Village Building Strategy Team. For over 25 years Hart was a Professor of Sociology and Director of the William Monroe Trotter Institute at University of Massachusetts-Boston. Hart is on the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the founding Board of Directors for the Friends of the Hollywood Cap Park, the Board of Governors of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, and the Governing Board of Directors for AbilityFirst. Hart has a B.A. in sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he was a student-athlete and cum laude graduate. In 1995 Hart was inducted into the University of Colorado's Distinguished Alumni Gallery. His M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology were earned at Michigan State University.
MICHAEL JONES
Michael S. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pacific University and also attended the Fuller Theological Seminary and Western Seminary in Portland Oregon. He currently serves as President and C.E.O. of the Crenshaw Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles and C.E.O. of Success Management, LLC, a management development company founded by Michael in 1995. Mr. Jones most recently served as Director of Development for the YMCAs of South Los Angeles, facilitating the development and growth of the branch Board of Managers, support campaigns and community relations. He was previously the Executive Director and Director of Development for the Crenshaw Family YMCA of Los Angeles, where he directed a branch staff of 70 employees in 7 locations, managed a $2 million budget, and provided strategic planning and development to grow the organization. Michael is also President of the Friends of Baldwin Hills and Board Member of Baldwin Hills Estates Home Owners Association.
JOYCE PERKINS Joyce Perkins is co-founder and former Executive Director of Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI). Created in 1994 though the office of former Mayor Richard Riordan, LANI is a private non-profit organization engaged in the economic revitalization of challenged urban neighborhoods. Currently serving twenty-two (22) diverse communities throughout the City of Los Angeles, LANI provides community consensus building, transit corridor improvements, business district revitalization, urban greening, and the development and support of community organizations. Ms. Perkins serves on several boards and commissions including the LANI Board of Directors and as Vice President of the City of Los Angeles Environmental Affairs Commission. Ms. Perkins earned a liberal arts degree in Social Welfare with emphasis in Community Organization from San Francisco State University, and is the recipient of several community awards and commendations.
RENEE GUNTER
Ms. Gunter is owner/designer of Urbanscapes, a landscape design company that specializes in drought tolerant gardens servicing the Los Angeles area. Owner and designer for a line of reusable shopping bags called Rumplesacs. Board member of the United Neighborhoods Neighborhood council, region 6 representative (2005-2008) 24th Street school Garden School Foundation Advisory Board Member. Designed and supervised the restoration of the South Seas House gardens in partnership with Dept. of Recreation and Parks, Council District 10, west Adams Avenues and the United Neighborhoods Neighborhood Council. Designed the 27th Street pocket park with the support of CD10.
REV. ROY PETIT
Elder Roy Petit is an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the Word. He is the founder and pastor of Miracle Center Apostle Community Church. He services as President and Chairman of the Apostle Ministers Alliance of the Greater Los Angeles area. Reverend Petit serves as Chairman of the Normandie 5 Project Area Committee of the Community of the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles for the past 20 years, a lifetime member of the NAACP and a member of the Urban League, serves as the President and Chairman of the Black Agenda, Inc. and is a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Emergency Service Network Inc./Genesis Program.
JESSICA CUSICK
Ms. Cusick is currently the Cultural Affairs Manager for the City of Santa Monica. A nationally recognized expert in the fields of public art, cultural policy and community development through the arts, Jessica Cusick has over twenty years of experience working in the arts for government agencies, the private sector, and non-profit organizations. Ms. Cusick is an adjunct professor at the Claremont Graduate University where she teaches a course on cultural policy.
FATHER MIKE GUTIERREZ
Father Mike Gutierrez is a community partner working on a range of social issues in Santa Monica and has substantial experience working in South Los Angeles. He has been the Pastor of St. Anne’s Parish for the last 7 years. Previous to that he was at the Nativity Catholic Church at Vermont and Slauson. Father Mike has also worked in affordable housing and serves on the Santa Monica Housing Commission and is on the board for the Community Corporation of Santa Monica. He devotes substantial time to workers rights including his work with CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice).
KEVIN SCOTT
Mr. Scott specializes in developing and implementing infrastructure financing, budget assessment and government restructuring. In 2005, Mr. Scott joined Frasca and Associates. Previously, he served infrastructure clients as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs for ten years and most recently as a financial advisor to the firm. Mr. Scott has also led Strategies for Changing Times, a consulting practice to provide advisory services for public and private sector enterprises that face challenging policy and finance issues. In the 1990’s, Mr. Scott was appointed by the California State Treasurer to serve as Executive Director of the California Commission on State Finance.
MARTHA SAUCEDO
Ms. Saucedo is the Vice President of Community Affairs for AEG and is responsible for managing the AEG community affairs team which is the primary contact for all issues that relate to public and community affairs, charitable involvement and issues that involve public interest in the LA Arena Land Company’s or affiliate organizations’ development programs. She also serves as a representative to the Central City Association Executive Committee, the South Park Business Improvement District and serves on the Board of Directors for Inner City Arts, as well as Carson Chamber of Commerce.
MARY VAN LOO
Mary Van Loo is a 35 year resident of east Culver City. With her interest in the design aspects of the Expo Line, Ms. Van Loo was appointed to the UDC by the Mayor or Culver City. Ms. Van Loo is an active member of St. Augustine’s Church and has participated in numerous Culver City activities over the years. Ms. Van Loo has worked for the Culver City Unified School district for more than 25 years and as Culver City High School’s Technology Technician for more than 20 years.
DOLAN DAGGETT
Mr. Daggett received a professional degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1997, and continued his education spending a year at the CSU International Program in Florence, Italy. After extensive travel, Daggett returned to Los Angeles to begin a career in Architecture. Over the past 12 years, Daggett has been intimately involved with the design, management, and construction of internationally significant works of Architecture in the Cities of Culver City and Los Angeles as Project Director for Eric Owen Moss Architects. Much of this work lies immediately adjacent the planned route of the Exposition Light Rail Line.
